Doyle Airence “Monolith” (2013 -Lifeforce Records-)
Doyle Airence are a sludge metal, post hardcore band from France and “Monolith” (2013, Lifeforce Records) is their second album: a massive sound influenced by metal, hardcore, sludge and rock. Rough music, brutal, introspective and deep to the bones; it will take a little while before to get in to this record because this is music about Expansive atmosphere for expert dudes. Anyway, don’t give up, you’ll appreciate the deep screaming vocals, the apocalyptic guitars (with the smell of Isis) and the typical “odd songwriting” from first to last track. There are no rules in the songwriting, anyway it works well, living to the listener an impressive heaviness. “Monolith” is mosh, dark, metal, melodic at all, with a lot of influences spreading up a super groove made in Doyle Airence. Note: play it very loud!
