Make Do And Mend “End Measured Mile” (2011 -Shield Recordings-)
“End Measured Mile” (August 2011, Shield Recordings) is an excellent debut LP for Make Do and Mend. After two E.P. and a well acclaimed 7” New England’s based band taken the right level of energy for put together 10 memorable songs of rough rock ‘n roll blended with passion, dedication and good sense of melody, combined with solid chords sometimes definetly rough, alternated with punk-garage fastness. Well, I didn’t know this dudes before and I’ve to say, I’ve abused of “End Measured Mile” since the first listening, this isn’t a joke: if you like that genres you’ll fall definetly in love with this band and of course, this record. Don’t call it post-hardcore, because Make Do and Mend have a sound of their own: anytime you’ll catch the flavour of hardcore, anytime of rock, punk, whatever… they’re very good musicians, mainly punk-based, but take them as a “various band”, from first to last song. Anyway, MDAM are influenced/inspired by Hot Water Music and Polar Bear Club, but they do it different, adding a very personal touch, bringing a lot of value to their music. This is a mature release, a great work that shine for intensity, heavy chords, good guitar melodies and strong vocals: everything works together perfectly.
One of the best contemporaries record and band, also on stage, the live show in Munich last august 2011 was perfect! Compliments, and thanks also to Shield Recordings that made this release possible. Still there? Go and buy “End Measured Mile” now!
