02/01/12 The Human Abstract breaks up
Following a trying year which saw the departure of their singer, in addition to an apparent split with their record label, Los Angeles metal band The Human Abstract has apparently disbanded.
Researching some news tips, Under The Gun Review came across the following post, purportedly from the personal Facebook of The Human Abstract bassist Henry Selva:
Folks, we are not looking for a new vocalist. We are not touring anytime soon. I think it's only fair you guys know that we're on 'break or hiatus if you will.' I don't know why we haven't said anything. I guess it's because there is always that 'maybe if something happens, etc..etc…' Or maybe it's hard for us to realize the reality of our situation, the band's situation, to finally let go. I'll be honest when I say the folllowing: Periphery and Never Say Die were our last tours together as a band."
We'll await some sort of announcement, but that quote seems pretty clear.

It's a slow news day, so why not show you some fan-filmed footage of a little melee that broke out at Every Time I Die's annual Christmas show in Buffalo, NY last night (December 16). Directly prior to performing their last song, ETID frontman Keith Buckley invited fans to join the band on stage. Unfortunately, Club Infinity security wasn't on-board with that plan.

14/12/11 Turmoil continues work on new album
When we last heard from Pennsylvania hardcore/metal band Turmoil, they had added Nate Johnson to their line-up on vocals, debuted a new song, and were in the process of writing material for a new full-length. That was nearly three years ago, haha. While many of their fans have since written off the aforementioned album as a pipe dream, it really is going to see the light of day. The band has written roughly twelve songs for the release, though only 9-10 will make the cut. Several tracks have already been completed, and Johnson is scheduled to once again enter the studio next week with engineer Shane Frisby (The Ghost Inside, Bury Your Dead) to record more vocals. The band will then record the remaining 3-4 tracks. Although a release schedule has yet to be established, Turmoil wants this album out. We've heard several of the songs and we can't imagine that Turmoil fans will be disappointed.

New York deathcore/metal outfit My Bitter End has announced the addition of Tim Zlinsky (ex-The Classic Struggle) to their line-up on vocals. Here's the official word: "Please welcome our new vocalist Tim Zlinsky formerly of Myrtle Beach, SC's The Classic Struggle. We had a lot of talented dudes send in auditions for which we'd like to thank you all for but we are more than stoked on our choice. Tim has been a long-time friend of the band for many years, and we are honored to have him on board. He's currently tracking vocals for two new songs and we should have them released in the next few days, hopefully sooner. Spread the word, and get ready."

Razor & Tie announces the addition of newly formed, Orange County, CA based act, I Am War to its label and publishing rosters. I Am War joins Razor & Tie for an exclusive, multi-album, North American deal. The band is led by Atreyu frontman Alex Varkatzas (on vocals) and Brandan Schieppati (on guitar and vocals). I Am War is currently writing and demo'ing new material which will encompass their brutal debut album set for release in spring of 2012.

11/11/11 Bring Me The Horizon involved in another fight
Bring Me The Horizon guitarist Jona Weinhofen apparently broke his hand during little scrap with a member of the crowd during the band's November 6th show in Helsinki, Finland (BMTH was opening for Machine Head).
Check out the fan-filmed video below. At the beginning of the video (look in the lower left-hand corner) you can see frontman Oliver Sykes throwing punches (for reasons we won't begin to attempt to explain). It appears that Weinhofen (with the cap on) then jumped into the fray, though it's difficult to see exactly what transpires at that point. Frankly, my head hurts after watching the video a few times to figure things out.

9/11/11 Gojira signs with Roadrunner Records
Yesterday we posted that Gojira was in New York City recording a new full-length. We noted that the label handling the North American release was unknown. Well, this morning a perceptive Internet user pointed out to Metalsucks that Spin Recordings Studios recently posted a Facebook status update stating "Nov. 2011; Studio A: Gojira tracking with Josh Wilbur (co-producer/engineer) for upcoming Roadrunner release."
Well, that pretty much says it all. Gojira is currently at Spin Recordings Studios tracking their Roadrunner Records debut. Cool.

28/10/11 Hell Within breaking up
Massachusetts metalcore band Hell Within will be disbanding after one final show next month.
Since forming roughly ten years ago, the group has released albums with Lifeforce Records and Thorp Records. The band has issued the following statement:
"We're sad to announce that Hell Within has called it quits. Hell Within will be playing our last show on 11/11/11 at the Village Smoke House in Lowell, MA. We'd like to thank everyone that supported us over the years and made this band happen. It's been a long hard road, but the most enjoyable experience of our lives. All across the U.S. this band traveled, met tons of great people and experienced things that we will cherish forever. Hell Within released 3 records, had 2 recording contracts, did countless tours and shared with so many people something that is so precious to us. To all the band members that we ever played with, to our record labels Lifeforce and Thorp records, we will never forget you guys. From our 1st manager Cynthia Donovan to our latest manager Damon Moreno we thank you for dedicating so much time to us. Then to all the great companies like Jagermeister, Dean Guitars, B.C. 28/10/11 It Dies Today back in action?
Anybody remember It Dies Today? They were pretty big in the "scene" circa 2005. And although the Buffalo, NY metalcore band never technically broke up, they've all but been on hiatus for the past two years or so.
Well, for better or worse, that's apparently about to change. The band's erstwhile dormant Facebook page has suddenly sprung to life in recent weeks. The band (i.e. nameless person in charge of their Facebook account) started by saying the following, "On behalf of all of us, we miss all of you. Many thanks for staying loyal all these years. Hope to bring some rip roarin' news to you soon."
Additionally, when one fan asked if the band was still together late last week, the response was as follows:
"Yep. Tell your friends and pals. All of them. And then tell their friends who don't know us, to listen good, and tell 20,000 more of their friends to listen better." That same day, when begged to "write a new album and put all of these new weakass fake hardcore bands to rest," It Dies Today responded with, "Working on it." Ok, all of this investigative journalism has left me tired. We'll see what happens.

After being out of action for an extended period of time, Massachusetts metal band Killswitch Engage has reconvened and is preparing to commence work on their next album. Guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz had the following to say: "We're about to begin writing our new record. Thanks to all of our fans for waiting so friggin' patiently. Now let's turn on the 'riff faucet' and rage!"
At this rate, we'd say a spring 2012 release via Roadrunner Records is likely.

It’s easy to forget natural disasters when they no longer make the news headlines, but the people left behind continue to struggle sometimes for years after the event.
In March 2011, Japan was hit by a life changing series of earthquakes and a devastating tsunami where families and homes were literally torn apart.
Engineer Records has not forgotten this awful tragedy and is doing something to raise much needed funds for the homeless children of Japan. With the help of its good friends in the music world, it has brought together a moving charity compilation Unity. The album features The Gaslight Anthem, Funeral For A Friend, Moneen and Fightstar, as well as a host of other fantastic artists, and includes many exclusive tracks that won’t have been heard before and which have been produced solely for this compilation – so you wont be able to get them elsewhere. The Unity download will be available as a set of 25 tracks – so for a small donation you get the whole album. Initially, it will be available from Bandcamp and 100% of the proceeds raised from donations will go to the charity. 
It will also be available from iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify at a later date.

Canadian post-hardcore outfit Alexisonfire has called it quits after roughly ten years together. Since their formation, the band has put out a handful of releases, including material with Vagrant Records, Equal Vision Records, and Distort Enteraintment. Frontman George Pettit has issued the following statement:
"There is no good way to put it so I'm just going to say it. After 10 years, Alexisonfire has decided to part ways. I'm going to try to give you the facts about this as best I can.

19/07/11 This Is Hell recording new album
This Is Hell has entered Killingsworth Studio in Valley Village, CA with producer Tomas Costanza to begin recording their next full-length. Vocalist Travis Reilly comments: "We can't wait to start tracking the new album. I can't remember ever being this excited to get in the studio. We've been playing a few new songs live. They feel great and people seem to enjoy them."
The yet-to-be-titled is expected to hit streets in early-October via Rise Records.

10/07/11 Gallows frontman leaving band
UK hardcore/punk band Gallows frontman Frank Carter has announced his departure from the band. Carter has issued the following statement:
"It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce my departure from Gallows. It seems that Gallows have hit a crossroads in our writing process and unfortunately myself and the rest of the boys have different ideas regarding the sound of Gallows going forward. Gallows have decided they are going to continue on without me and I wish the boys the best of luck for the future. Gallows will be fulfilling all of our current touring plans until August 1st so please come down to a show and help me make each show a total celebration!
"This does not mean I am giving up on music. I have a new band called Pure Love which I have been working on with my brother Jim Carroll (Suicide File, Clouds, Hope Conspiracy) for a few months now. A lot of late nights in the studio have meant that we will be recording our debut album in September and then will hit the road later this year. I hope to see you all there.
"I want to say thank you to my brothers Stephen, Jonathan and Richard, my parents and the rest of the boys in Gallows for their support not only over the past few months, but the past 6 years. I also want to thank all the fans that helped us build Gallows into something I could really be proud of. Without you it would have meant nothing. Thank you all. Forwards ever, backwards never. Pure Love."
Carter's brother and band guitarist Stephan Carter added: "Creatively, we could not agree on a direction for the new record and came to the conclusion that parting ways was for the best. Frank will be releasing music with his new project Pure Love later this year and we all wish him best. He is and will always be our brother, as well as an integral part of the start of our career."

04/07/11 AS I LAY DYING receives San Diego Music Awards nomination!
'Best Hard Rock' nomination along with label mates Cattle Decapitation
AS I LAY DYING and CATTLE DECAPITATION have once again been recognized by their hometown of San Diego. Both bands have been nominated in the "best hard rock" category for the 2011 San Diego Music Awards. The awards show will take place on August 8th at Humphreys By The Bay in San Diego, CA. Tickets to the show are available through the San Diego Music Foundation.
AS I LAY DYING has been honored at the awards in the past, having taken home the "artist of the year" award on three separate occasions in 2005, 2007 and 2008.

Portland, Oregon's It Prevails have announced the release of their upcoming full-length album Stroma on July 19th via Mediaskare Records (The Ghost Inside, Bury Your Dead). The band has previously released two full-lengths (for Rise Records and Rain City Records) as well as two EP's to critical acclaim. Stroma boasts the band's strongest line-up and writing yet, with hard charging but melodic positively minded hardcore. Legendary Boston outcasts, Blood For Blood, have announced all dates for this summer, in both North America and Europe, which includes appearances at With Full Force Festival and Reload Festival, both in Germany, as well as East Coast Tsunami Fest in PA. The band will also be announcing a special free show in Germany in the coming weeks. The US shows are the band’s first club headlining shows in the states in over 7 years. HACKNEYED have revealed the following statement about their upcoming Lifeforce Records debut!
“It’s hard to believe.
After two years in-between rehearsal room, shows, being on tour and pre-production we finally managed to get our third album ready to launch. It’s named “Carnival Cadavre” and will be tested in human experiment at the Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbühl on August 19th 2011 for the first time. Once again we produced our album with Corni Bartels at the Weltraum Studios and Björn Goosses (Killustrations) again purified our disc with a stunning artwork.
We added another fine portion of groove and brutality for you and showed once again what Hackneyed is made of. With our new label Lifeforce Records we found the matching partner and we’re really looking forward to our future cooperation. We’re curious where our journey with the “Carnival Cadavre” will lead us within the next weeks and months. And perhaps soon it’s also close to you they say: The Circus’ Back in town!!!”
“Carnival Cadavre” is set to be released on August 22nd in Europe (August 19th in Germany) and on August 30th in North America.

07/06/11 Converge cancels shows due to "health scare"
Converge has cancelled the remainder of their current tour as the result of a "serious health scare." The band has issued the following statement:
"Unfortunately on our day drive from St. Louis to Austin, one of our members had a serious health scare. We rushed him to the nearest ER were he was looked at by some fine Oklahoma doctors. After a night's stay in the hospital and a battery of tests we were able to have him discharged earlier today. We are now racing (quite literally) to make it to our show at Chaos In Tejas, albeit extremely late, to play an abbreviated set. Wish us luck.
"Because of this health issue, we are canceling the remaining few shows of this current U.S. tour so he can get home and get some medical attention asap. To those in Little Rock, Nashville, and Raleigh, we will add you to our list of places for make up shows later down the road.
"Thanks to all of you for your continued support, it is appreciated by all of us."
UPDATE: The affected band member is bassist Nate Newton.

H2O will tip their hats to bands like The Ramones, Dag Nasty, Madball, Rancid, Circle Jerks, Descendents, Cro-Mags, Bad Brains, The Clash, Government Issue, Verbal Assault, Gorilla Biscuits, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, 7 Seconds, Embrace, Social Distortion, Sick of It All and Warzone on this release. Oakland, California extreme metallers ALL SHALL PERISH have been forced to cancel their previously announced European tour due to "scheduling conflicts for the new album and the restructuring of band management," according to the band. The group was slated to hit the road in Europe in June alongside SUICIDE SILENCE and AFTER THE BURIAL.

Victory Records has officially signed Corpus Christi, TX band Design The Skyline. Formed in early-2010, the band categorizes themselves as "experimental/deathcore/electronica." Their new album, "Synthetic Cities," will surface later this year.

11/05/11 UNEARTH: Darkness In The Light Album Art + Track Listing Revealed New Song Stream Available
Pit-churning, melodic metal pioneers, UNEARTH, are currently readying to unveil Darkness In The Light, their fifth full-length in a discography that's placed the band among the most prolific and plainly ravaging modern metal acts to come out of the U.S.. Set for North American release on July 5 via Metal Blade Records, the 11-track long player -- their most conceptually personal offering to date -- was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer (and Killswitch Engage guitarist) Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Victory Records signs Counterparts
Victory Records has signed Ontario hardcore/metal outfit Counterparts. Formed in 2007, the band released an album in early-2010, followed by a split EP this past winter. Counterparts' Victory debut will reportedly surface in August, but for now you can check out some of their previous material.

26/04/11 All Shall Perish album set for release
Oakland, California extreme metallers, All Shall Perish, have announced "This Is Where It Ends" as the title of their fourth full-length and follow-up to 2008 release "Awaken the Dreamers." The majority of "This Is Where It Ends" was recorded and mixed at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland with producer Zack Ohren (Light This City, Decrepit Birth). Look for the album on sale both physically and digitally on July 26th (North America) and July 29th (Europe) via Nuclear Blast Records.

12/04/11 NightShade Full Album Video Teaser Launched!
NightShade will release their new album "Lost In Motion" in the US on April 26, 2011, and in Europe May 13, 2011, followed by a lengthy US tour to follow (dates below).  The new album featuring the songs "Rebellion", "The Depths Of Memory", and "A Dream, A Choice, A War" are crushingly heavy but with a spellbinding melodic structure.  NightShade's new material has been compared to Darkest Hour and Children Of Bodom with a contemporary twist.  
An exclusive VIDEO TEASER of the whole album has been posted on YouTube.  The album was produced by heavyweights Fredrik Nordstrom & Henrik Udd, responsible for classic metal albums from In Flames, At The Gates, and Bring Me The Horizon.  The song "The Depths Of Memory" will be available on the RockBand Network soon.

UNEARTH have just announced three headline dates that will lead into the band's run as a part of this summer's Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. UNEARTH has also announced co-headline dates with Suicide Silence, that will take place during off dates of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. In other UNEARTH touring news; the band will be playing Alaska with label mates As I Lay Dying on Friday May 20 at the Egan Civic & Convention Center.

10/03/11 pins&needles zine!
New England’s The_Network (BlackMarket Activities) have made their previously unreleased cover of Deadguy’s 1995 classic Pins and Needles available here. The song is available when you purchase Issue 3 of the print zine, Pins&Needles, which is described as being a zine about 90’s hardcore, dogs, Seinfeld, etc. In true 90’s hardcore fashion, $1 of each purchase is being donated to Rawhide Rescue, a non-profit dog rescue and adoption organization. The_Network’s most recent release was the full length Bishop Kent Manning for BlackMarket Activites in 2009 and they are currently in the studio recording for an as yet unannounced release.

28/02/11 Slayer frontman hospitalized in Australia
According to Soundwave Festival organizers, Slayer frontman Tom Araya was hospitalized in Sydney, Australia last night, forcing the group to cancel their February 27th performance in Sydney. Further information regarding Araya's condition hasn't been made available, though hours later when questioned about Araya, the Soundwave people stated, "Possibly a severe ear infection. Haven't had confirmation yet."

17/02/11 Blood For Blood to play first US show in 6 years
After a very successful European Tour in December 2010, as part of the 2010 Persistence Tour with Sick Of It All, Unearth Official, Evergreen Terrace and more, Blood For Blood announces that they'll be performing at the New England Metal Fest on April 15th in Worcester, MA, which is the bands first US show in over 6 years.
A few days after this long-awaited US show Blood For Blood will kick off a short European run including a performance at Belgium's Groezrock Festival on April 23rd. Blood For Blood will be joined by Crushing Caspars and My City Burning.
More European dates will be announced very soon.

"We wanted to let everyone know that tracking for the new album has officially begun! We're currently at Zing Studios in Westfield, MA tracking drums with our sit in drummer for the album Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed. Foley was an obvious choice for this album for many reasons, but mainly because of his abilities and knowledge of heavy music as well as his long time friendship with the band. A decade plus of friendship has made this an easy transition for the band, Foley and our producer/engineer Adam D.

26/09/10 Misery Signals guitarist leaves band
Misery Signals guitar player Stu Ross, who has been with the group for most of their existence, has quit the band. His departure was completely amicable and when we contacted Ross for comment earlier today, he stated that "The guys in Misery Signals are and will continue to be four of my best friends." Ross explained, "Frankly, I just got tired of being in a metal band." As such, Ross will now focus on singing for Vancouver pop-punk outfit Living With Lions.

26/09/10 Have Heart to release CD/DVD of final show
Throughout their 8-year long career, Boston's Have Heart was about so much more than music; Have Heart was about honesty, positive living and real emotion. Formed in 2002, Have Heart released their demo and 7inch and followed those up with their debut full-length, The Things We Carry, in 2006 to overwhelmingly positive acclaim from critics and fans alike. Fast-forward to 2008 and the band released the landmark effort Songs to Scream at the Sun, which gained notoriety in their traditional hardcore scene and beyond. Throughout all of this, Have Heart toured North America, Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Australia and beyond. Every nook and cranny of planet Earth was covered and every fan was completely captivated by this very special group of musicians. However, real life caught up and Have Heart decided to call it quits in Fall of 2009.
On October 17th, 2009, Have Heart played their last show as a benefit to a women's shelter in Boston to a 2,000 person sold-out crowd from around the world. As the band took stage and the intro started, the room swelled with anticipation and there was unstoppable energy throughout their entire performance. Have Heart delivered an hour+ long set full of sincerity and integrity at one of the most memorable events in hardcore history.
Bridge Nine Records is proud to present 10.17.09, a special CD/DVD of Have Heart's final show. With six cameras and countless mic's, every stagedive and sing-along in the venue was captured and is presented to the viewer in the utmost realistic quality. Have Heart's frontman Pat Flynn comments, "This shit makes Avatar look like the Ten Yard Fight documentary. Wrench and his crew did an excellent job capturing the feeling of this little show of ours. 21/09/10 Ex-Unearth bassist dies
Former Unearth bassist Chris R. Rybicki has reportedly passed away as a result of an accident that occurred last month in Salem, Massachusetts. Rybicki, age 35, was apparently struck by drunk driver while riding his scooter on Saturday, August 28th. Rybicki had originally been transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in serious condition, where he has presumbly remained, though details regarding his condition in the interim haven't been made public.
Yesterday, current Unearth guitarist Buz McGrath posted the following via Twitter: "Today the world lost a great party animal. R.I.P. Chris (rover) Rybicki."

21/09/10 Mutiny Within cancels tour, seeks drummer
Mutiny Within has cancelled their fall North American tour with Nevermore, among others. The group has issued the following statement:
"We're sorry to say that despite our best efforts, our plans to hit the road with Nevermore this month have sadly fallen through. As many of you know, we have been looking forward to being a part of this tour and seeing all of our fans again. However, we feel that in order to deliver our best performance every night, our search for a full time drummer has to take priority. Instead of hitting the road with a temporary member again, we want to take the time to properly audition and rehearse.
"We did have another drummer lined up to accompany us on this tour, but due to a slow visa process, rehearsal time was cut to an unworkable amount. Mutiny Within is not a 5 piece band and we need to find our 6th member to bring you guys what you deserve. We're so sorry to anybody who was looking forward to seeing us on this tour, but we cannot tour without a drummer. We know people will be upset and we apologize, but know that nobody will be more upset about this than we are. On a positive note, this gives us the time to work on brand new songs, which we've been looking forward to doing for some time.

UK metallers BMTH have released It Never Ends - the first single to be taken from their massively anticipated new album ‘There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen it, There Is A Heaven Let’s Keep It A Secret’ The video, directed by Plastic Kid, was shot in Copenhagen, Denmark earlier this year, shortly after the band completed work on the new album. In the video, BMTH frontman Oli Sykes is attacked by demons of the night as they claw their way into the ambulance he is being held in. Crashing through the countryside, the ambulance arrives at an abandoned hospital where surgeons (played by the rest of Bring me the Horizon) attempt to perform on Sykes whilst defending him from his pursuers. The band’s most ambitious video to date was premiered this week on the Visible Noise and Epitaph YouTube sites, gathering hundreds off thousands of view, sand the track is now available on iTunes worldwide. Vocalist and founding member Jeff Tiu comments: "The best thing about this band is that we do whatever we want. With other bands I’ve been in there was always a goal in terms of touring a certain amount, attaining a certain level of success and so on. Everyone in Ice Age has either a full time band or a career which leaves us in the unique position - it’s actually quite a luxury. No one likes us when we play? So what, we had fun. After six years, 700+ shows, several releases, countless tours of North America, Europe, Australia and Asia, Ruiner will be calling it a day in October 2010 (as October 5th is the anniversary of the band's first show).
Vocalist Rob Sullivan commented: "This wasn't an easy choice to make. All of us started playing in bands when we were in middle school and for the first time in 12-13 years, some of us won't be having band practice on a weekly basis. But we know this is a choice we needed to make. We always ran this band at 100% and some of us now feel like we don't have the desire to tour anymore. We aren't the kind of band who wants to release records and rarely play the music, so we decided it is now an appropriate time to hang it up. We got to see the world a few times over and with that met a lot of incredible people. We will all be forever grateful for that, but we know this decision is the right one to make. I'm sure I could give many more reasons as to why, but the gist of it is if this band can't be done at full speed, we feel it is better to stop."

Sad sad news from Italy: TO KILL have decided to split up. The band will however release their highly anticipated new album "antarctica" and hit the road one more time to present the new songs. We here at Let it Burn Records don't regret one thing. We are looking forward to releasing "antarctica" and to see the band on stage a few more last times. tourdates will be announced soon, as well as the album release date.

Eric Cargile, bass player for Michigan metal band Bloodlined Calligraphy, has passed away. The group has issued the following statement:
"Yesterday, Tuesday, April 20th, Eric Cargile passed away in his sleep. We don't know how this happened, all we do know is that a loss of this magnitude cannot be truly explained in words. Eric was seriously the heart of this band, and more importantly, he was the best friend and person we have ever met. Without him, so many things would have never been possible, and we all have so many amazing memories of and with him.

Washington, D.C. heavyweights Darkest Hour have signed with E1 Music in North America, joining artists such as Hatebreed, High On Fire, Overkill, among others. The band will enter the studio to record new material to be released early next year. 09/02/10 TRIVIUM - Announce Nick Augusto As New Drummer
Florida metallers TRIVIUM are pleased to announce Nick Augusto as their new permanent drummer. Augusto was introduced to Trivium fans when he filled in behind the kit on last fall’s “Into the Mouth of Hell We Tour” trek. He is now stepping in to permanently replace the departing Travis Smith.
Vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy commented, “We’re really happy to have our good friend and fellow Floridian Nick Augusto join the Trivium family. Nick’s drumming is very technical and diverse and he brings a real intense energy to the band and we can’t wait for everyone to hear the new song, ‘Shattering the Skies Above,” that we just recorded with Nick.  I think it’s the best Trivium recording we’ve ever done; it’s raw, full of energy and I think Nick’s drumming really pushed us to a new level.

British publication, the Guardian, reports that UK hardcore/punk band Gallows has been dropped by Warner Bros. Records after releasing one album together. Naturally, poor sales are blamed (20,000 copies solid in the UK; 50,000 worldwide).
However, the Guardian asserts that Gallows has emerged from the arrangement victorious, making money via a lucrative signing deal and maintaining integrity by releasing an aggressive album.

17/12/09 MISERY SIGNALS take half a year off
MISERY SIGNALS will be taking the first half of 2010 off for a bit of a breather.
The band have confirmed in a new blog that they'll be focussing on their own private projects for a while; Burning Empires, Karl's solo project Solace http://www.myspace.com/solace123 and Branden is giving private drum lessons http://www.myspace.com/drumswizard.
BURNING EMPIRES is the new project from Misery Signals boys Stu Ross (guitars), Ryan Morgan (guitars) and Kyle Johnson (bass), Andy Hurley from FALL OUT BOY and ex-7 Angels 7 Plagues frontman Matt Mixon. Mixon will front the group.
MISERY SIGNALS will reconvene in the second half of the year to work on a new record.

14/12/09 The Number Twelve Looks Like You breaks up
After nine years together and four studio albums released, New Jersey-based quartet The Number Twelve Looks Like You have decided to split up. Not content to go out quietly, the band has scheduled one last blowout farewell show on Friday, January 29 at School of Rock East in South Hackensack, NJ.
The show will feature special guests and will include former members of Number 12 joining singer Jesse "Jase" Korman, guitarist Alexis Pareja, bassist Chris Russell-Walker and drummer Jon Karel to perform songs from all four of the band's albums.

For the ones interested, vegan sxe legends Purification (Uprising Records) will start rehearsing new material during the upcoming weeks.
The new material will be posted "exclusively" on the myspace's tribute page: Purification
In the past the band toured all over the world (US, Japan,Brazil, Europe) to promote their milestone “Banging the drums of war” that was released by Uprising records in 2003, the record featured special guests such as Karl Buechner of Earth Crisis and Sean Muttaqi from Vegan Reich.

16/11/09 As I Lay Dying issues update from the studio!
As I Lay Dying is currently holed up with Adam D. and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. They're hard at work recording and writing their follow up to 2007's An Ocean Between Us. The band will be recording and writing throughout the rest of 2009 and vocalist Tim Lambesis has issued the following update via the band's myspace page.

09/11/09 Sick Of It All recording new album
NYC hardcore band Sick Of It All is currently recording their next full-length album. The group is at Antfarm Studios in Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (Behemoth, Earth Crisis) tracking the effort, which is expected to surface in early-2010. A record label has yet to be officially announced.

12/10/09 DEAD SWANS ANNOUNCE EUROPEAN TOUR WITH THE CARRIER
The Dead Swans are excited to announce tour dates throughout Europe with The Carrier to kick off the end of 2009. In support of the debut B9 release Sleepwalkers, this two week European jaunt spans from the 31st of December to the 16th of January, and takes the guys of DS to Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, and the UK. Called "blistering and nervously confrontational" by Alternative Press Magazine, Sleepwalkers was unleashed to the masses in early August, and already has Dead Swans being hailed as one of the best bands out of the UK.

06/10/09 Sick Of It All set to record new album
Hardcore mainstays Sick Of It All will enter the studio in early-November to begin recording their next full-length. The band has written sixteen songs thus far, though not all of the tracks will appear on the album. New song titles include "Dominated," "A Month of Sundays," "Hope and Fear," "Bent Out of Shape," and "Dirty Money." A spring-2010 release is expected via an unannounced label (the group is in the process of finalizing a deal).
